I decided that since there will be a new British Royal coming within the next month, I’d pop in for a bit. As my personal excitement grows, I’ve gotten into the royal watching groove again – for better or for worse.
I’ve got to say, royalty watchers are some of the strangest people I’ve ever encountered (that’s both a compliment and a criticism - even of myself!). Coupled with the anonymity of the internet, there are some truly DISGUSTING things out there. The sad part is many frequent posters pride themselves on not being the much stereotyped fat jealous old women who sit at home all day waiting for the next pic of Will and Kate or Fred and Mary. No, they are the lawyers, doctors, educators, and not to mention, mothers. Mothers who put their kids to sleep then log onto forums and judge based on a photograph. If you aren’t attractive and impeccably dressed all the time, you lose. WTF. It’s no wonder that since I started royal watching, I’ve become a more judgmental person. It makes me wonder – are these people my future colleagues? Are they the people I see in the supermarket, dropping their children off at school, or in the doctor’s office? I am scared to know the truth.
One forum in particular is so vile. Ongoing postings about how Kate is faking her pregnancy. Predictions on a surrogate or stillbirth. Discussion about the possibility of an Indian surrogate because the recent story of William’s Indian/Armenian ancestry could act as a cover for up if they accidentally use the surrogate’s eggs. I’m not making this up, but I do want to vomit.
I guess I’m being unfair singling out royal forums and blogs. It’s everywhere. Read the comments on any article and video and it blows your mind. I never thought it could get this bad. I’m sad for the world Baby Cambridge, and any other baby, has to be born into.
